RC Nitro Engines

Testing
Whenever you are putting an RC car on the road for the first time or after it has been shelved for awhile you should test the vehicle and tune it before running it fast or on rough terrain. After driving the vehicle check it for debris. Make sure the parts move freely and have not become clogged with mud or dust. The wicket keeper is an essential and key part of the cricket team. Every team needs a reliable wicket keeper. As well as taking catches, stumping the batsmen and taking run outs, the wicket keeper is one of the teams most important players: motivating and inspiring the bowlers and fielders to raise their game and WIN.

To be a wicket keeper you need fast reactions and precise judgement as you have very little time to react to such things as fast deliveries especially if there are changes and deviations in the balls line due to variations in swing, movement off the pitch and edges.

You need to be alert and have high levels of concentration. Like a top batsmen you want to be able to switch on and off your concentration between deliveries and overs to avoid getting mentally tired, as its impossible to fully concentrate non-stop for hours at a time. High levels of fitness and flexibility are also very important for a wicket keeper as it can be very tiring because you are effectively doing hundreds of squats and diving around the field. So stay fit, warm up and down and stretch thoroughly to remain in peak condition and avoid injury.

Basic technique: Wicket keeping stance

You can stand up to spin bowlers and slower paced bowlers. The wicket keepers stance is quite straight forward, you need to stand about one step behind the stumps, making sure no part of your body or equipment is in front of the line of the stumps.

Crouch down with your left foot (reverse for left hand batsmen) inline with middle stump, therefore on you are crouched a little on off side. Try to keep your head still and eyes level during the delivery to help you judge the pace and line. You should be balanced and relaxed with your weight slightly forward on the balls of your feet. Be alert and ready to react to the delivery.

Catching the ball

When you are catching the ball, aim to get your head/eyes above the line of the ball and your body behind the line of the ball. As the ball rises from the pitch, rise from the crouching position with the ball, so you mirror the height of the ball. Watch the ball into your hands and catch it with your fingers pointing downwards. Youll need to cushion the impact of the ball hitting your gloves when catching by giving with your hands. If the ball continues to rise as it reaches you, step with your outside foot backwards and across, rotating your body outwards, taking the ball on one side of the body. To catch a ball delivered on the off side or leg side, move your feet and body across immediately to get your head back into line with the delivery. (Move the outside foot first and follow with the inside.) Rise with the ball as discussed above and give with hands to reduce the impact.

If you are standing back which you should be to medium and fast bowlers take your stance as discussed above, however stand in a position so that the ball is taken once it begins to drop.

Sometimes you may have to dive to take wide deliveries or thick edges, always try to take the ball in two hands if possible, roll after the dive if you can to reduce the impact of landing and changes of injury.

Stumping

You can attemp a stumping if the batsman is out of the crease after you have caught the delivery. Once youve taken the ball move your body weight towards stumps and move hands fast to break the wickets.

Chery Automobiles: Chinas Auto War Begins

China is laying plans at this very moment to begin shipment of passenger vehicles to the North American market by mid 2007. Chinese automobile manufacturer, Chery, yes read that againthe company sounds strangely like Chevy, is looking at bringing not just one, but a whole fleet of low cost production vehicles to our shores. Proposed prices will astound you and could potentially bring the U.S. auto market to its knees. Dont think for even one moment that Japanese and Korean automakers will be immune from this flood of low cost cars. Chery vehicles have been designed some say stolen from current Asian models and will compete directly against the likes of Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Hyundai. Chinas long awaited war with the US at one time expected to begin with a Red Army attack on Taiwan — may be fought on an economic front instead.

Chery, a state-owned car producer formed in Chinas eastern Anhui Province, is currently building a number of cars in China including the QQ a compact car strangely similar to the Daewoo Spark [GM Korean division], as well as several sedans and a compact SUV. Indeed, recent charges made by Toyota, GM, and Honda have all alleged that Chery mimicked or outright stole designs from at least one of each automakers vehicles including the Honda CR-V. For the record, the Toyota case was rejected, Honda is still attempting to work out a solution with their case, and GM recently dropped its suit after the Chinese automaker agreed not to sell their cars in the US under the Chery name which GM has stated is too close to the Chevy name. Chinese courts have also ruled that the Daewoo Spark design was not registered in China, so GM dropped its suit.

At present, the Chery vehicle line up includes the tiny QQ; a compact SUV built jointly with Mitsubishi called the Tiggo; and three sedans: the Oriental Son, the Flagcloud, and the Windcloud. Recently, Chery unveiled a newly designed crossover vehicle along the lines of the Chrysler Pacifica. With an introductory MSRP of under $20,000 the Chery crossover will seat up to seven passengers and come equipped with both four and six cylinder engines. As you might guess the Chery crossover, if equipped similarly to the Pacifica, could be priced some ten thousand dollars less than the Chrysler model.

Current prices on the other models have not yet been set, but published reports this past summer indicated that a basic Chery could retail for as low as $6995 in the US, which would be some three thousand dollars less than the next lowest priced car, the Chevy Aveo [from GMs Daewoo unit, naturally]. Of course, this particular pricing strategy has raised all sorts of alarms within the automobile industry, chiefly how to counter a flood of low cost cars invading the U.S. market. As some have pointed out, much like Hyundais introduction to the North America market during the 1980s, the Chinese cars are expected to initially have only a limited appeal primarily due to expected low quality levels. Still, it only took Hyundai less than one decade to begin to produce cars which consistently matched the quality levels of many American and Asian models. So, it could be just a matter of a few years before Chinese cars receive the positive press now given to many other Asian automakers, resulting in a sharp surge in sales.

While the Chery dealer network within the US has yet to be established, it is under development; a limited version of the dealer network is expected to be in place by Summer 2007 when the first Chinese vehicles arrive. A rapid expansion of this same network across the US and Canada has been planned over the ensuing years and although the Chery name will not be used in the US, you can expect that whatever name is selected these cars will impact the way many Americans buy their cars from that point forward. Oh, by the way, two other Chinese automakers — Shuanghuan Automobile Manufacturing, LTD and Geely Automotive — are also expected to export cars to the North American market soon after Chery makes its debut.

While it is too early to say, the opening of the lucrative North American automobile market to cheap Chinese vehicles could possibly shake the American economy in ways never anticipated. I, for one, shudder to think just how all of this might unfold.

Where’s There’s Three

Grandma made a major decision the other day. She had been ponderin and ponderin how to deal with her three little darlins in the best way possible. She finally decided since there were three of them, maybe there should be three of her. Yep, Grandma decided shed split her personality into three personalities and become three in one. Who knows? Even that Miss Ophrie might come a callin to her door and a wantin to meet them three in one.

So Grandma had to decide which three personalities shed be. She thought about the girlies favorites, but she didnt know what no Lindsay Lahon, Hannah Montana, Dora the Explorer, Taylor Hicks, Paula Abdul, Hillary Duff, or even Polly Pockets might be all about. So Grandma just fell back on her old tried and true personalitiessome that she knew real, real good!

For starters, Grandma thought it might be a good idea to start the day off with her Shirley Temple personality. After all, her little sweeties couldnt even be that sweet theirselfs. Grandma thought she could get that nice Miss Cindy down at the Roffler Shop to put them Shirley Temple curls all over her head. Then shed find herself some big fancy candy shop and git her the biggest, stripedest lollipop thats ever been made. Grandmas old knees got to knockin when she slipped right into her Shirley Temple stand-out dress with her crinoline slip peekin out from the bottom. Grandma even brought out an old pair of Shirley Temple black patent leathers to complete her new personality.

Needless to say, when Grandma Shirley Temple walked in to model her new personality to her babies, they all went to screamin and a laughin and callin Grandma a silly goose. That, of course, was before they spied the giant lollipop, and then they started to grabbin and callin claims to that big beauty with so much enthusiasm they crushed the candy part and sent the stick part a sailin through the air until it landed straight up and down in Grandpas glasses (which hed just put on to see who that cute little doll in the Shirley Temple curls was). Fortunately for him, he didnt have em on long enough to see Grandma a pullin just bout ever one of them curls straight out.

So, on to the next personality. Grandma thought shed make a perfect Annie Oakley. Gittin a big ole hat over what was left of them curls was not too much trouble, but when Grandma put them spurs on her brogans she wound up scratchin up her brand new hardwood floors that Grandpa had just laid.

Grandma didnt have no cowgirl vest so she just grabbed the chenille bedspread, and it almost went all way around her to be the purtiest vest any cowgirl ever saw. Last, Grandma strapped her gun and holster set (who knows where it came from?) round her hips. Then she picked up the babies jump rope and started to twirling that rope and a lassoing right there in front of that television set where them babies was glued to some show called Deal or No Deal.

It took em a minute to notice Annie (aka Grandma), but when they did, they went to grabbin and callin claims on them there guns on Annies hips. Whoa! Grandma couldnt let them sweeties get their hands on no guns so she thought real fast and with all her might and her sharp-shooters eye, she slung them guns straight for the sink full of dirty dishes. She knowed them girls wouldnt go nowhere near dirty dishes, and she was right. The next thing she heard was, No deal!

Well, Grandma was now left with her choice of a third personality. There was no question which one that would be. Grandma got her lipstick out and drawed her biggest, reddest Joan Crawford smile anybody had ever seen. Yep, Grandma was gonna be a perfect Mommy Dearest. To tell you what happened next would be too scary, but Grandmall tell you in a heartbeat that her babies wont go near the closet no more, and they keep awakin up in the middle of the night screamin something she cant understand about coat hangers.

Grandma tried. Grandma failed. Now Grandma will just be Grandma, but she still wonders what would have happened if shed just made her experiment a little easier and split into the Three Stooges instead. (Bomp, slap, thump!!)

Housing Market Cools But More Needs To Be Done To Assist Buyers

Meanwhile the true fans are locked outside watching their heroes on giant screens and paying extortionate prices for food and drink.

And its not just football. Every summer brings the Wimbledon tennis championships to London and its the same old story.

The toffs eat their strawberries and cream and sip expensive champagne while the real fans sit on Henman Hill willing their heroes to victory.

Its the genuine fans who fund the sports and whom the authorities should treat with a little more consideration.

If you’re confused about the dates you see on egg cartons, it’s not surprising. Food product dating is hard to understand. One of the more puzzling facts is that none of the dates on food packages — not even “use by” dates — are an indication of food safety. Instead, package dates refer to product quality.

An “expiration” or “sell by” date on some egg cartons helps to ensure that the eggs are fresh by informing the grocery store not to sell the eggs after the marked date. These dates are also intended to encourage you to use the eggs when they’re still at their highest quality. An expiration date on the carton is not required but, if one is used, it can be no more than 30 days after the eggs were packed. Since the packer or retailer may choose a date under 30 days, your local retailer can give you more complete information about how many days a “sell by” or “expiration date” allows after packing.

Some cartons show a Julian date on the short side of the carton. The Julian date is the day the eggs were packed — starting with 001 as Jan 1 and ending with 365 for December 31. For example, eggs packed on June 15 would be marked 166. Some other egg packers print an open “use by” date — July 15, for example — right on the eggshell itself. If properly refrigerated, shell eggs will keep with insignificant quality loss for at least four to five weeks after the Julian or pack date. If there is no Julian or pack date, using your eggs within three weeks of purchase will allow for the possibility that your eggs may have been temporarily warehoused by the retailer before you bought them.

Why isn’t safety a factor in these dates? Food safety depends on many things, including how you handle and store eggs and other foods. Both quality and safety changes can happen before or after the date on a package. For example, if you put a fully-cooked deli ham and a carton of eggs in the trunk of your car on a hot day and then run several errands before you refrigerate the ham and eggs at home, you’ve both reduced the ham’s and eggs’ shelf-life and increased your risk of food-borne illness — no matter what the package dates say.

Even when eggs are refrigerated, time causes a quality difference, too, especially in appearance. As eggs age, the whites thin and the yolks flatten. This means that the eggs will spread more in a pan if you fry them and there will be more “angel wings” of white in the water if you poach them. Because the yolk membranes also weaken with age, the yolks may break whether you want them to or not.

For recipes where shape isn’t important, particularly when whites and yolks are beaten together, you can still use the eggs. The weakening of the yolk membrane, however, makes it easier for bacteria — if they’re present — to reach the nutritious yolk. So, to prevent the possibility of foodborne illness, it’s best to use older eggs in fully cooked items, such as quiches, stratas and baked goods.

Making A Compensation Claim

If you plan to make a claim to the CICA for criminal injury compensation, then you’ll need to show that you have suffered either physical or mental harm as a result of having been the victim of the violent crime in question.

Note that you need to show that a crime took place, you do not need to show that a conviction resulted from the crime you are claiming took place.

If you have grounds to believe that you have a criminal injury claim, you can obtain a compensation form from a personal injury solicitor, which you then need to compete and return.

The CICA then acknowledges receipt of your form and should process the claim. Keep in mind that this can be a lengthy process and can take anywhere up to 18 months after you have submitted the criminal injury compensation claim.

Also, as the scheme is for victims of violent crimes, the minimum compensation payable under the scheme is 1,000 and the maximum amount of compensation is 250,000.

Moreover, keep in mind that if you have made a claim for compensation under the scheme and are not satisfied with the initial compensation awarded for the criminal injury you suffered, you are entitled to submit a request to have a review of your criminal injury claim within 90 days of your original award being made.

If you still dont like the award after this review process has been completed, then you can appeal your criminal injury compensation claim to the Panel of the CICA within 30 days of the outcome of the appeal process. If the Panel of the CICA award still does not satisfy you, you then have the right to appeal your claim to the High Court.

Are There Any Alternatives?

If you have been the unfortunate victim of a crime, you should speak to a criminal injury solicitor as soon as you can following the event. In part this is because the criminal injury compensation scheme is only for those who are the victims of a violent crime.

On the other part, you need to make sure you do this so that you can get the advice from your criminal injury solicitor as to any alterative compensation you may want to seek.

Any alternative compensation claim you do instigate will be based on a civil action for personal injury. As a personal injury claim can be expensive, if you believe you may have a case for personal injury compensation but do not have the funds to pay a costly solicitor, you should talk with a no win no fee solicitor to see if there is any chance they will represent you in your claim.

Just because people from diverse backgrounds and disabilities (usually and incorrectly referred to as “minorities”) don’t necessarily speak and shop the way we do, let’s not forget that they are just as willing to shop in our place of business or sell to us, for that matter. It might even be possible to partner with them and create a profitable win-win situation for both parties.

It is also important to remember that minorities don’t necessarily see and do business “our way”. Whatever that means? Nevertheless, such individuals might be the source of our business’ survival. For this to work effectively for both sides, it is also important to see the world from where the minority businessperson is standing. This point was brought home to me when I went shopping with my eldest daughter who was about two years old at the time.

As I stooped down to tie her shoelaces, I immediately realized the reason she had become so irritable. She could not adequately see the toys that were displayed on the shelf above her head. Every major city has one or more of the following or can refer us to a relevant source. What are these sources of minority businesses that are ready, willing, and qualified to do partnership business with us? Look no farther than your federal government office of:

The Small Business Administration District Offices;
The Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs);

If I were looking for local or qualified businesses by specialty in my field, first I would turn to these directories. Even if I could not find a fit, it is quite possible that the directory’s manager would adequately refer me to relevant sources.

So, rather than complaining about not being able to find a qualified minority business, why not utilize the tools that I highlighted? Oh, it would be so refreshing to see both partners smiling all the way to the bank.

There has been a lot of talk in recent years about doing things that are healthy for your heart. Hardly a week goes by without some new fact or warning on the news about the latest foods and exercises to avoid or to add to your routines. It seems like almost everyone is consumed (and rightfully so) with lowering their cholesterol or with making time for more cardiovascular exercise. I haven’t heard much, however, about taking time to do what’s good for your heart. Not the physical heart that beats and pumps blood to keep you living, but the non-physical heart that allows you to feel, to relate with other people, and to make life worth living.

You see, I think that all of the work spent on your physical heart is in vain if you do not take just as much time or more to work on the health of your non-physical heart. I know all the excuses: life is too busy, my job is too demanding, my family requires all of my extra time. If you’re making any of these excuses the first step for you is to realize that the health of your heart is valuable enough to make a priority.

Taking time for your heart will not complicate your life as you might imagine. In fact, most people find that making time to improve the quality of their heart actually simplifies life and makes even the hardest things seem more enjoyable. Taking time for your heart will often help to renew friendships with people and re-center your life on what really matters.

Doing what is good for your heart can be as simple as going to see a good movie or picking up a book that you’ve wanted to read for a while.
